Shale Gas Technologies
Our full azimuth, long offset Reservoir Grade 3D (RG3D®) seismic raises the bar on data quality and resolution, providing unrivaled images of shale oil and shale gas reservoirs. Our insightful survey design and RG3D® data collection, matched with our patented HTI imaging technology, provide crisp images of difficult to image shale beds, including the fault and fracture regimes important for exploitation of these reservoirs.
We also offer a range of shale prospecting attribute combinations that we produce, on a play-by-play basis, to further assist our customers plan and complete wells, from the Eagle Ford, the Haynesville, to the Marcellus. Our E&P Services team offers unique products and services for shale quality prediction, such as the FracFactor™, where we can delineate ductile and brittle zones in the shale section.
Global can offer these shale services on a proprietary basis, or through licensable products from our rapidly growing multi-client data library, which has a strong focus on North American shale plays. In our popular Eagle Ford program (see 3D data example in right sidebar), we are developing a continuous 3D data volume that will reach over 1 million acres, covering both gas and oil plays. 3D seismic volumes as well as regional interpretations and other derivative products are available for licensing.
Microseismic is an important fracture-monitoring tool for shale reservoir exploitation. Global Geophysical Services is entering the surface microseismic market segment through its wholly-owned subsidiary Global Microseismic Services, Inc., and has already started recording microseismic in select fields.
This technology is highly complementary to our existing 3D seismic business, where we can leverage our significant permitting and logistical expertise, as well as our recording equipment platform, from existing 3D seismic operations. We will take micro-seismic imaging to the next level, by leveraging our detailed multi-client 3D velocity field to constrain the micro-seismic event picking, and provide more accurate micro-seismic event locations.
The combination of surface 3D seismic and microseismic from one service provider, on a large scale, will create new opportunities for our customers to manage their well completions.
